Edgecraft Digital Vietnam provides secure cloud hosting and healthcare software for clinics, home care providers and other healthcare organisations in Vietnam. We are establishing our Vietnamese company in Da Nang, working alongside our sister company in Australia.

We offer three primary services: secure cloud hosting in Vietnam for clients' existing software custom applications built on Medplum, an open-source HL7 FHIR platform EdgeCare, a subscription patient records system planned for 2027. Client data is hosted only in Vietnam, on AWS (Hanoi Local Zone) and a Tier III data centre partner. This is a requirement for management of personal and sensitive data as required in the Law on Personal Data Protection and the Law on Cybersecurity.

The role

We are looking for a Fractional Senior Cloud & Solutions Architect. You will take technical ownership of our hosting environment and the architecture of our Medplum applications. You will work closely with our founder, Robyn Kirk, and our senior full-stack developer.

First priorities

1. Select our Tier III data centre partner. Assess Tier III providers in Vietnam (for example Viettel IDC or CMC Cloud) to operate alongside AWS Hanoi. Cover security, certifications, data residency, managed services, SLAs and cost. Recommend a Cloud & Solutions Architect – Edgecraft Digital Page 1 of 7 provider and support the contract negotiation.

2. Design EdgeConsent, our patient consent app and consent log. This is our first Medplum application and the first module of EdgeCare. It records each patient's consent by purpose, the wording they were shown, any withdrawal, and a full audit trail. You will prepare the infrastructure and FHIR data design for our developer to build.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain secure single-tenant and multi-tenant hosting environments using infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK).

Deploy and run containerised Medplum: Medplum server, PostgreSQL, Redis, bots and OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect.

Implement security controls: least-privilege and role-based access, encryption and key management (KMS), and tamper-evident audit logs.

Set up monitoring, logging, backups, disaster recovery and breach notification procedures, and the regular monitoring reports we send to clients.

Map our controls to Vietnamese data protection, cybersecurity and medical records law, working with our external data protection adviser.

Write the technical terms of client SLAs and oversee our infrastructure partners.

Review designs and code, and set engineering standards with the developer.

Key requirements

1. 8+ years in cloud engineering, infrastructure or DevOps, including 3+ years as a lead or solutions architect.

2. Production experience with core AWS services: VPC, IAM, KMS, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, ElastiCache, S3, and ECS or EKS.

3. Cloud security experience, including identity and access management, encryption, network security, logging and incident response.

4. Experience managing sensitive or regulated data, preferably medical or health data.

5. Understanding of data compliance, and of how these Vietnamese laws apply to hosting health data: Law on Personal Data Protection No. 91/2025/QH15 and Decree 356/2025/ND-CP Law on Cybersecurity No. 116/2025/QH15 Law on Data No. 60/2024/QH15 Law on Medical Examination and Treatment No. 15/2023/QH15, Circular 13/2025/TT-BYT on electronic medical records Law on Electronic Transactions No. 20/2023/QH15

6. Infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK) and CI/CD pipelines.

7. Business-proficient English, written and spoken.

Desired requirements

Vietnamese language skills.

Experience with similar data protection laws, such as the EU GDPR, HIPAA or Australia's PrivacyAct. Experience with Medplum, HL7 FHIR R4 or healthcare integration.

Experience assessing or working with Tier III data centres in Vietnam, orAWS Local Zones.

AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Security Specialty certification. ISO 27001 or SOC 2 experience.
