As an Analog Layout Intern on the AMS team, you will contribute to the physical layout implementation of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. You will gain practical experience in translating circuit schematics into physical layouts that satisfy performance, area, and reliability requirements. Depending on the product development cycle and your interests, you will have opportunities to explore various IC design techniques and industry tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the analog design and layout workflow, including the differences between analog layout and digital physical design.
• Develop layouts for fundamental analog circuits, such as comparators and operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs), using advanced process nodes while adhering to requirements for device matching, symmetry, shielding, and layout-dependent effects.
• Support floorplanning, component placement, and routing for analog and mixed-signal blocks under the supervision of experienced engineers.
• Perform physical verification, including Design Rule Check (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS), and antenna checks, and assist in resolving identified issues with guidance from a mentor.
• Develop an understanding of parasitic effects and electromigration/IR drop (EM/IR) considerations, collaborating with circuit designers to improve layout quality.
• Work with industry-standard design tools, including Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre, in a Linux-based environment.
• Participate in regular discussions with the assigned circuit designer and layout team to report progress, exchange feedback, and document completed work.
