Job description
Your work days are brighter here.
We’re obsessed with making hard work pay off, for our people, our customers, and the world around us. As a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, we’re shaping the future of work so teams can reach their potential and focus on what matters most. The minute you join, you’ll feel it. Not just in the products we build, but in how we show up for each other. Our culture is rooted in integrity, empathy, and shared enthusiasm. We’re in this together, tackling big challenges with bold ideas and genuine care. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive. Whether you're building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you’ll do meaningful work with Workmates who’ve got your back. In return, we’ll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you’ve found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.
About The Team
Paradox is now part of Workday — a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents. Our product, Olivia, is the conversational AI assistant that has run hundreds of millions of recruiting conversations, helping the world’s largest employers screen, schedule, and hire at a scale and speed no human team could match alone.
You’ll join the engineering team in Da Nang that builds the brain behind Olivia: the language understanding, the large language model (LLM) systems, and the new generation of AI agents that take real action on behalf of recruiters and candidates. This is production AI at enterprise scale — millions of conversations, dozens of languages, and a quality bar where a single wrong answer is one too many.
We’re looking for a Senior AI Engineer who has already built and shipped machine learning systems that real users depend on, and who wants to own meaningful parts of that system end to end.
About The Role
As a Senior AI Engineer on the Workday team, you will design, build, and operate the next generation of LLM- and agent-powered systems that support conversational hiring at scale. You will take ambiguous, high-impact problems from early discovery through production operation, using sound technical judgment and partnering across infrastructure, product, data, design, and engineering to deliver AI systems that are fast, safe, useful, and trusted by customers.
In addition to owning complex technical work, you will mentor engineers through thoughtful technical feedback and clear documentation, helping the team make sound design decisions and deliver high-quality AI systems with greater independence.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Basic Qualifications
With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email accommodations@workday.com.
Are you being referred to one of our roles? If so, ask your connection at Workday about our Employee Referral process!
At Workday, we value our candidates’ privacy and data security. Workday will never ask candidates to apply to jobs through websites that are not Workday Careers.
Please be aware of sites that may ask for you to input your data in connection with a job posting that appears to be from Workday but is not.
In addition, Workday will never ask candidates to pay a recruiting fee, or pay for consulting or coaching services, in order to apply for a job at Workday.

In addition to owning complex technical work, you will mentor engineers through thoughtful technical feedback and clear documentation, helping the team make sound design decisions and deliver high-quality AI systems with greater independence.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Owning AI features supported by dedicated AI infrastructure, taking problems from early ideas through design, implementation, evaluation, rollout, and production monitoring.
- Develop LLM- and agent-based systems, including prompt engineering, context management (like RAG and vector databases), and agent workflows.
- Refine the models that power Olivia’s multilingual conversations, focusing on better intent and entity recognition.
- Improve AI performance by building tools to measure quality, monitor metrics, run tests, and quickly catch production issues.
- Make model serving faster, cheaper, and more reliable using techniques like caching, batching, and fallback strategies.
- Raising the technical bar by applying AI expertise and engineering experience to deliver high-quality system designs, implementation approaches, and code
- Guide and support other engineers with thoughtful feedback on code and designs, helping them improve their decision-making.
- Creating clear documentation that helps team members understand how systems work, make informed decisions, and work more independently
- Work with product, data, and platform teams to deliver AI features that provide real value to our customers.
- Other duties which are assigned by the Employer or authorized person of the Employer.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing LLM AI systems.
- 5+ years of professional programming experience in Python.
- Demonstrated history of building AI products from early prototype through production.
- LLM and Agentic Systems: Experience designing LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows, prompt pipelines, and tool/function-calling patterns for reliable product experiences.
- AI Quality and Evaluation: Experience improving AI system quality through evaluation methods, regression testing, guardrails, observability, and production monitoring.
- Production Engineering: Ability to design AI services with attention to latency, cost, reliability, scalability, and operational maintainability.
- Technical Mentorship: Ability to guide engineers through practical technical feedback, design reviews, code reviews, and clear documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience partnering with product, data, platform, and engineering teams to turn business needs into technical plans.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills in English and Vietnamese, with the ability to explain technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Growth Mindset and Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team environments while showing a growth mindset through feedback, learning, and continuous improvement.
